I’m going to leave the pictures to do most of the talking in the post. I received Haikubes as a Christmas / Chanukah present last year and have used them for prompting creative writing and having some poetic fun.
Basically, they’re 63 cubes, with 5 faces with words on, and one face blank (for spaces and to put around your poems). There are two special cubes (the red ones in the pictures) that help to inspire you for what your Haiku should be about. Then your task is to grab words to make a functioning poem.
I was intending to do a couple of rounds with the Haikubes, and then write some unconstrained poems afterwards. But in fact I had some much fun playing around with the dice that I just kept going.
